Features And Advantages
The stand protectors help prevent damage to the pins of tubing and casing as these tubular goods are made up in stands of doubles and triples. The stand protectors provide a rugged solution to the weight imposed on the pins and exposure of the tubulars to external damage and contamination. At the same time, the stand protectors offer flexibility and safety in handling and ease of storage. The quick air release close to the rim on the side of the protectors, ensures a high degree of safety as stands are being moved to the rig floor. Based on the related inflatable technology, the stand protectors require minimal maintenance and have a long life expectancy.
The inflatable casing thread protectors offer safe, reliable casing and tubing pin-end protection. The working principle of the inflatable casing protectors is based on pressurization by rig air (72 to 130 psi, or 496 to 896 kPa), ensuring easy installation and reliable protection for all API standard and premium threads.
The quick clamp-on thread protector provides dependable, easy-to-use protection for all API and equivalent threads on casing or tubing. The quick clamp-on thread protector attaches to the pin end of the tubular with a quick-fit-and-release mechanism for easy installation and removal. A special tension adjustment screw enables precise modification of the protector ID to ensure that the intended thread squeeze is achieved. Once the thread protector is clamped on the casing or tubing pin, the locking handle is concealed in the clamp body to prevent damage or unintended release. Returning the quick clamp-on thread protector from the rig floor to the pipe rack is easy. The hook-shaped locking handle is opened, hooked over a catch line, and slid downward, toward the pipe rack.
The entire latch mechanism of the quick latch thread protector is contained within a recess of the outer body perimeter as compared to other protectors which require placing the hand inside the tubular to open or close. The quick latch thread protector does not employ pressure vessels, bladders, valves, fittings, or air lines.
